Congratulations Andrew Murphy (‘07) on his amazing and inspirational cycling journey. Andrew  spent most of the year riding more than 10,000km from Singapore to London to raise money for a newly constructed memorial in remembrance of great mate Luke Boylan (‘07). Luke and two friends died in a tragic boating accident last year at Venus Bay on the Eyre Peninsula.

Andrew cycled alone for more than eight months through 14 different countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, China, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Croatia and Germany.

After flying back to Australia last month and riding from Perth to Smoky Bay, Andrew rode the final 80km leg of his epic journey on Tuesday 24 September, finishing at the memorial which marks the entrance to Venus Bay.

A great gathering of family and friends welcomed Andrew ‘home’ as he arrived at Venus Bay. Luke’s mother, Trish Boylan said she would attach a plaque to the memorial in honour of Andrew’s exceptional effort and commitment to Luke’s memory.
